In This Life

In a fairy tale, we would be together.
In a different world we’re meant for each others.
In my dreams there is no other.
But we’re floating like helpless feathers,
in this life’s senseless tide.

If I could, I‘d hold you tight.
I’ll be your peace in weary nights,
and never let go come what might.
But I just can’t start the fight.
In this life, my hands are tied.

I close my eyes, I feel your pain.
I think your thoughts, I’m in your brain.
Elated by your sweet cocaine,
I embrace you like drops of rain,
but In this life, rain drops must slide

I think of you, and I am paled
by thoughts of a heart that had once dared
a broken dream that can’t be spared,
and a cursed soul that can’t be saved,
for in this life it has no guide.

I picture you, I loose direction.
Enchanted by unearthly affection.
You put a strain on my convictions,
but I still hope for resurrection.
For in this life, I have died.
